This week's Pan-African Journal focuses on the Southern African nation of Zimbabwe where the government and three leading political parties are preparing for two national elections in March and July. The elections will be taking place amid efforts by ZANU-PF to implement the indigenization programs specifically related to the platinum industry.
The civil servants and teachers' strike appears to have been settled in the Southern African nation of Malawi. Meanwhile the parliament has passed a gender equality bill that could prove advantageous for women throughout the country.
Officials from the Republic of Sudan have filed a complaint with various African states over the actions of the government in Uganda. The government based in Kampala is heavily backed by the United States and functions as an arm of the Pentagon and Wall Street.
Finally, opposition parties in the North African state of Egypt have voiced strong criticism of the electoral process for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The elections will be taking place within the context of delicate relations between the Freedom and Justice Party government and the armed forces.
In addition, there is a tribute paid to the recently passed Temptations Richard Street and Damon Harris.
