Abayomi Azikiwe's lecture will discuss the impact of banks and corporations in the financial crisis in Detroit, historically and contemporary. Additionally, he will discuss the failure of the federal government to impose regulations on the financial institutions to include rational housing policy to challenge predatory lending and banks unethical practices.
The lecture will focus on mobilizing resolutions to 'Save Detroit' from this monumental crisis of blight.
Azikiwe's breadth of interests include Detroit, the United States and issues of U.S. foreign policy in the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the larger African Diaspora.
This event is free and open to the general public.
