Afghans hold anti-US protest in Paktia after US troops kill tribal elder
Angry protesters have held an anti-U.S. rally in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Paktia after U.S. forces killed an influential tribal elder.
Local officials said U.S. troops have killed a very influential tribal elder in Paktia and have badly wounded his wife, Press TV’s correspondent in Kabul, Fayez Khorshid, reported.
Moreover, U.S. forces have detained four other civilians from the same family. This is the latest civilian casualty by American forces in Afghanistan.
Hundreds of Afghan villagers in Paktia province demonstrated against U.S. forces on Wednesday in the wake of the killing.
The protesters chanted anti-U.S. slogans, demanded justice, and called for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from their country.

The rising number of civilians killed in attacks by U.S.-led forces has increased anti-U.S. sentiment across Afghanistan.
Earlier this month, a U.S.-led airstrike killed 17 civilians including 12 children, four women and a man in Shigal district of Kunar province.
U.S.-led forces also killed four Afghan police officers and two other civilians in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Ghazni.
Also, on April 10, U.S. troops attacked a civilian bus in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, killing at least two people.
Attacks by U.S. military forces in Afghanistan, including airstrikes, have reportedly killed hundreds of children over the last four years, according to the UN body monitoring the rights of children.
