ZIMBABWEANS interested engaging in trade with Chinese companies have been presented with a platform to enable them to gather the necessary information before sealing business deals to avoid losing their hard- earned money through bogus companies.

The China-Zimbabwe Corporation and Development Trust is embarking on monthly awareness workshops that provide locals with information about potential business partners to trade with and the various investment and trade opportunities that exist in the Asian country.

Addressing delegates who attended the inaugural workshop in Harare last week, China-Zimbabwe Corporation and Development Trust co-founder and general manager Mr Eddie Sanyanga said they had set up the trust after realising the vast opportunities that China presents that can help locals boost the economy.

“Last year China’s GDP reached US$2,8 trillion and this was attributed to improved technology and gains in retailing and construction aided by Government efforts to drive a recovery in the economy.

“China has emerged as the second largest economy after the US and it is for this reason that we have put together this trust to assist enterprising Zimbabweans to tap into China’s wealth of resources,” said Mr Sanyanga.

Every month there will be a different theme under discussion, while the first one ran under the theme “Overview of China and Trading Opportunities” and the umbrella theme for the project being “Gateway to China”.

Mr Sanyanga added that they set up the trust together with their Chinese counterparts after receiving constant inquiries from both individuals and corporates about trade in China prompting the need for an enterprise were people could get necessary information.

“We are here to give out information to locals who might need to visit China and would like to know which province or city to visit that best suits their line of business, for example a bus company might want to know where to get good quality buses at the best available price.

“We are therefore a helping hand for the local industries and companies to have an opportunity to expand trade between Zimbabwe and China,” he added.

The China-Zimbabwe Corporation and Development Trust will also get the Chinese investors to forge business partnerships with local entrepreneurs.
