‘RACE WAR NOW’: POLICE INVESTIGATING ‘REPUGNANT’ MESSAGE LEFT IN AFRICAN-AMERICAN DEPARTMENT AT YALE

Authorities at Yale University are reportedly investigating an incident of racially charged graffiti found last week in the the building housing the school’s African-American Studies department.
“Race War Now” was inscribed in one of the building’s restrooms last week, according to the Ivy League university’s official school newspaper, the Yale Daily News.
A joint email sent Thursday from Yale University President Peter Salovey and department chair Jonathan Halloway firmly denounced the crime.
“The sentiment expressed is repugnant, and antithetical to our university’s values and beliefs. As we look forward to an inauguration weekend that celebrates all of Yale in its great diversity, we must be mindful of the fact that to threaten or demean even one member of our community threatens and demeans all of us,” the email reportedly said.
Nonetheless, Halloway, who characterized the actions as “racially offensive,” sent out a separate email where he speculated that it was most likely an isolated incident.
“From the experiences I’ve garnered through living on campus for most of the last decade I believe that this will be a one-time act of stupidity,” Holloway reportedly said.
The graffiti has since been removed, but authorities are still encouraging individuals with any information about the incident to contact police.
Neither a spokesperson for Yale University nor the Yale Police Department was immediately available for comment to TheBlaze on Monday evening.
