27 years after the death of the founding president of the Southern African nation of Mozambique, Samora Machel, who was killed in a plane crash, questions remain over the circumstances surrounding the incident. Machel's plane crashed in South African territory which was then under white-minority racist rule.
Zimbabwe's ruling party has released a two-phased policy document that will guide the Southern African state toward economic empowerment and self-sufficiency. The Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front won over two-thirds of the overall vote during the July 31 harmonized elections.
The utlization of drones in Africa is escalating on the part of the United States. This follows a pattern of hostile military interventions by the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on the continent.
Finally, there will be a meeting this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with its neighboring states on the plans to develop the Great Renaissance Dam Project designed to partially redirect the flow of the Nile River to provide hydro-electric power to the region.
