Outside the federal court house in Detroit on November 13 over 100 people demonstrated in support of Palestinian American community leader Rasmea Odeh, 65, of Chicago who is being charged with falsifying an application for U.S. citizenship two decades ago. Odeh had been imprisoned for years by the Zionist regime in Palestine and later immigrated to the U.S. and was granted citizenship.
She pled not guilty during the arraignment where the courtroom was packed with her supporters. At present Odeh is the associate director of the Arab American Action Network (AAAN).
Participants in the demonstration included representatives from the Committee to Stop FBI Repression (CSFR), the Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI), the Moratorium NOW! Coalition, the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Palestine Office of Michigan, the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights (MCHR), the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), among others.
Odeh's conditions of a $15,000 bond and travel restrictions to northern Illinois and eastern Michigan were maintained by the court.
Those wishing to contribute to her defense can send donations to stopfbi.net/donate or nlg.org/donate.
