Zim welcomed into diamonds ‘family’

The Antwerp World Diamond Council has welcomed Zimbabwe to the diamond trading hub’s “family”, saying they cannot wait to have the sale of the local gems start.
“You are now part of the family, you are our family today,” AWDC Chief Executive Officer Mr Ari Epstein said while welcoming the Zimbabwe delegation on a visit here to familiarise with how the auctioning of the diamonds.
“We are here so that you can continue mining your diamonds and sell them at the best price.”
The Zimbabwe delegation is led by Secretary for Mines and Minerals Development Professor Francis Gudyanga and is made up of officials from the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation.
Embassy officials, including Ambassador to Belgium Mrs Margaret Muchada, are also part of the delegation. Prof Gudyanga said the delegation was impressed with the prospects of selling diamonds at Antwerp, while Mrs Muchada said it was a great day for Zimbabwe to have the delegation in Antwerp.
