SOMALIA: President Hassan deplores clan based clashes in Southern regions

The President of the Federal Government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has strongly deplored the retuning of clan based clashes in some of the southern Somalia regions which claimed the lives of dozens of people, RBC Radio.
Speaking at a press conference early on Tuesday morning, President Mohamud has called to immediate end to all ongoing clan fighting in Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle and Hiran provinces.
“I call for unconditioned end to these unwanted clan clashes,” the President said adding that the ongoing conflicts between the clans were incited by those who are against the progress made by his government.
“Those who are opposing to see peace returning and progress made by the government are using these armed conflicts as means to jeopardize the government’s efforts to stabilize the country.” he added.
President Mohamud vowed that the government will not continue to tolerate for spoilers inciting hostility between the brotherly people in the south and central regions.
“We will nit tolerate the spoilers to use the clan wars as means to reach their interest.” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said while reiterating that his government will also do something on growing accusations against government forces joining into the clan militias to fight fir their clans.
The call from President Mohamud a week after deadly wars erupted in three south and central regions which armed militias fought for land ownership as well as power struggle.
