Sudan’s Bashir say Western colonization sought to eradicate Islam from Africa
January 11, 2014 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir has said that Western colonization sought to eliminate Islam from Africa and limited education to Christian missionaries.
Bashir pointed in a meeting on Saturday with the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the International University of Africa (IUA) to the role played by the university in disseminating education among Muslims in Africa, saying that education is the main tool for advancing Islam and empowering Muslims.
The university’s BoT had recently conducted its 20th meeting amid large presence of scholars from Sudan and abroad.
Bashir praised the role played by the IUA students and graduates all over the world.
The head of the BoT, Mustafa Osman Ismail, pointed they seek to activate the role of the IUA domestically and regionally, saying that several facilities were opened on the sidelines of the BoT 20th meeting.
He asserted commitment to develop and modernize the university, adding that they would offer the necessary funding for the IUA projects besides sponsoring the needy students.
