The South African Communist Party is confident about an ANC victory in the May 7th general election. "Victory is indeed certain!", asserted Solly Mapaila, SACP 2nd Deputy General Secretary. The Party has intensified campaigning for this victory. "Together with COSATU we held highly successful workers march in Durban, on Saturday, 26 April. Approximately over 120 000 participants attended the march in support of the ANC", said Mapaila.

"We are now focusing our attention in communities, industrial areas and wherever voters are through voter contact activities, including door to door", said Mapaila. He added that the SACP will support COSATU`s May Day rallies by ensuring that all Party Officials attend and address these rallies, and that the General Secretary comrade Blade Nzimande will lead by doing so in Polokwane on Thursday, 1 May. Mapaila said in addition to Party Officials, Central Committee members will attend and address other COSATU May Day rallies taking place on the same day in different cities and towns across the country. The SACP has further organised all its structures and members to attend the rallies and mobilise workers, employed and unemployed, to also attend.

Mapaila said similar plans are underway with regards to ANC`s final rally that is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 4 May, at FNB stadium in Johannesburg. "The campaign for decisive ANC victory is now 24 hours every day", he said.
