Nigeria's Parliament: Senators Boycott Plenary
Nigerian Senate boycotted parliament.

The Nigerian parliament has refused to sit for legislative business in what appears to be an open confrontation with President Goodluck Jonathan.

The lawmakers aren't pleased with the move by the authorities to withdraw the Speaker House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal's security aides.

Those from the ruling PDP have also been bickering over the party's refusal to grant them automatic tickets into various political offices.

The senate had adjourned Tuesday's proceedings following a request from PDP senators to hold a caucus meeting on party related issues.

But on Wednesday, senators of the ruling party openly boycotted the session.

Many of them say they are unhappy about the presidency's interference in the workings of the National Assembly.

But the leadership is promising to resolve the crisis.

Opposition senators say they are ready to work but that the refusal of their colleagues from the ruling party to convene is affecting the presentation of the 2015 budget and other parliamentary duties.

Federal lawmakers from the ruling party say they're furious about the withdrawal of Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal's security aides and the non-payment of their allowances

They also complain that the PDP structure has been hijacked by Governors; a move which has denied them automatic tickets to contest in the 2015 general elections.

Unless the issues are quickly resolved, the senators are promising to shutdown government business and threatening to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan.
