Air strikes were delivered on “peaceful districts in the Dimas locality and in the vicinity of the international airport of the Syrian capital”

BEIRUT, December 7. /TASS/. Syria’s government said on Sunday Israel’s air strikes on Damascus suburbs was another “criminal act of aggression against Syria.”

Israel refuses to comment reports about air strikes by its air force on Damascus suburbs
Earlier on Sunday, the SANA news agency said citing a Syrian government representative that Israel’s warplanes had delivered air strikes on civil facilities near the Syrian capital city Damascus.

According to the representative, air strikes were delivered on districts in the Dimas locality and in the vicinity of the international airport of the Syrian capital. No one was hurt.

Israel’s military command refused to comment but local media said that the air strikes had been delivered on warehouses with weapons meant for the Shia group Hezbollah fighting on the side of the Syrian army.

Lebanon’s news service Libancall says, citing eyewitnesses, that black smoke is seem in the vicinity of the military and sports airdrome in Dimas and sounds of explosion are heard from there.

"A favour to terrorists"

By hitting Damascus suburbs Israel “has done a favour to terrorists,” the Syrian armed forces command said on Sunday.

“Bombing of vitally important facilities in the vicinity of the Damascus international airport and in the Dimas suburb was staged after major victories of the Syrian army in Deir al-Zour and Aleppo,” the command said in a statement. The strikes incurred material damage. Civilians were not hurt.

“By its open aggression Israel, along with certain countries of the West and the Middle East, has demonstrated its direct involvement in supporting extremist groups, such as Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State and trying to lift their morale,” the statement said. “This criminal aggressive action will not force the Syrian army to give up anti-terrorism fight.”
