KHAYELITSHA - The African National Congress (ANC) in Khayelitsha’s ward 89 is positive it will retain the ward after today’s election process.

Many party officials were present at the OR Tambo Hall where the voting process was earlier suspended.

At the hall, one ANC official, Morris Sifo, expressed confidence at retaining the ward after today’s polls.

“We are going to win this ward.”

But Democratic Alliance representative, Andisiwe Nkinana, said they’d done enough work to take control of the ward.

“I think the voting went very well and I’m quite positive that we will take this ward.”

There was a heavy police presence as the election came to a close.
