Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held
A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union organizations took place in Pyongyang on February 16 in celebration of the 76th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Attending it were delegates of the KCU from provinces and schoolchildren in Pyongyang and pupils joining the KCU.

Present there on invitation were vice-Chairman Choe Hwi of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-Premier Jon Kwang Ho, chairman Kim Sung Du of the Education Commission, officials of relevant fields and the youth league, war veterans and persons of merit.

Pak Chol Min, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League, made a report.

The reporter recalled that Kim Jong Il had visited many schools and schoolchildren's palaces, though he was very busy providing the revolutionary leadership and showed loving care so that the KCU members would grow up stoutly to be knowledgeable, moral and healthy.

He said that the history of loving care shown by the leader is being given a steady continuity on this land by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

He called on the KCU members to grow up to be dependable pillars of socialist Korea true to the pledge they made before the flag of the KCU, with the pride of having become a member of the glorious Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Children's Union.

A ceremony for admission to the KCU was held at the meeting.

The pupils joining the KCU made an oath, led by Choe Hwi.

Officials, war veterans and persons of merit tied red neckties around their necks and attached KCU badges on their chests.

The pupils made the first greetings of the KCU member, responding to the slogan "Let us be always ready for socialist country", to be followed by congratulatory speeches.
