COSATU Response to the Public Servants Association Statements
The Congress of South African Trade Unions has noted the statements made by the Public Servants Association about their pending strike. We have also disturbingly noted that in their media briefing they spent a considerable time talking about COSATU and its unions.

We want to clarify the fact that PSA is not affiliated to COSATU and that our federation does not get subscriptions from the union.PSA is therefore ill-qualified to offer any opinion on COSATU or the internal processes of its affiliates. The union is affiliated to FEDUSA; we are therefore puzzled as to why they feel the need to prescribe to COSATU and its unions on what to do and when. The union should engage with its mother body FEDUSA, its sister affiliates and honour the mandate of its members. We urge them to stop acting like an affiliate of COSATU.

COSATU has noted the progress that has been made in the Public Service Wage Negotiations. We are aware that COSATU unions are still consulting their members and we hope that they will finalise this consultation process within the allocated twenty one day timeframe. A media briefing will be convened by the COSATU unions, under the Joint Mandating Committee umbrella body, to officially communicate their official position once they have all finalised their consultations processes before the twenty one day allocated period has lapsed.
