SACP Condemns the Attempt to Assassinate President Maduro and Overthrow the Leadership of the Venezuelan Bolivarian Revolution
6 August 2018

The SACP joins millions of people throughout the world in condemning the attempted drone assassination of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela President, Nicholas Maduro at the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Bolivarian Guard.

The assassination attempt bears the hallmark of an imperialist designed project, possible only with the support of the embittered upper and middle class opposition in Venezuela.

It is clear in their violent methods that these opposition forces have chosen the path of confrontation and are aiming at liquidating the government-led economic reforms. The economic and financial sanctions imposed on Venezuela are introduced as economic sabotage of Venezuela by the US, cooperating with comprador sections of Venezuelan bourgeoisie.

The SACP rejects the violence against the government of Venezuela unleashed to serve the interests of imperialism. Venezuela will not return to the dark days of a wretched existence.

We support the right of the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to resist imperialism and for the victory of their just defensive economic war and to safeguard their country`s sovereignty.

We extend our deepest solidarity to President Maduro, to the people of Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution. We remain part of your whole just struggle against subjugation and imperialism. We extend our best wishes for speedy recovery to all the injured.
