"These historical times that we must experience, deserve such moral strength, such loyalty, as the giant Antonio José de Sucre,” said President Maduro.

The President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro said Sunday that the Bolivarian Republic is the cradle of Latin American freedom and dignity," while addressing troops at the Naval Apostadero de Turiamo, in the state of Aragua.

"Today the future of Venezuela is decided: if it becomes one more star of the United States flag or if it will continue to fly its eight tricolor stars,” said the president.

“You saw the failed coup plotters yesterday ... with the gringo flag behind them. They no longer hide, they no longer hide their identity. They no longer hide what they have inside, they want to deliver our country, in pieces, to the gringo empire and the local oligarchies.”

The president visited the navy for the preparation of military exercise for the bicentennial of Angostura i.e., the formation of Gran Colombia (Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia) by the revolutionary Simon Bolivar after independence from Spanish colonialism.

The ceremony will be held from Feb. 10 to 15.

During the encounter, the president called for unity of the people and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

“Your soldiers of the Homeland are the maximum guarantee of union, integrity, and respect for Venezuelan sovereignty. We must be proud of the deployment capacity for the defense of our Bolivarian Navy and our Bolivarian National Armed Forces,” the president said.

“They say that there will be a civil war and military intervention, but neither a civil war nor intervention in Venezuela will bring peace — but peace is what we'll achieve.”

Since last week, the Venezuelan head of state has toured several military installations to receive the loyalty and commitment of the military of the FANB.

This Saturday, he also participated in the closing of the great march in commemoration of the 20 years of the Revolution, before a crowd that marked one of the highest attendance of the Bolivarian people in recent months.
