Egypt's PM Meets US Vice President Pence

The two officials discussed strategic and economic partnership and views on regional security issues.

Egypt's Prime Mostafa Madbouly discussed on Tuesday the strategic and economic partnership with the United States with US Vice president Mike Pence at the White House .

The two officials discussed means to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen joint cooperation in various domains.

They also exchanged views on issues of common concern, as well as the latest developments at the regional and global levels.

On Twitter, Pence said that he had a productive meeting with Madbouly.

"Productive meeting with Prime Minister Madbouly of the Arab Republic of Egypt today at the White Housewhere we discussed the importance of the strategic and economic partnership between the United States and Egypt.

A statement issued by the White House office of the Vice President said that the two officials exchanged views on regional security issues and that Pence "welcomed the Prime Minister's commitment to advance discussions on several human rights cases of mutual concern, including Americans detained in Egypt."

The Egyptian Prime Minister is currently in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
