More protest rallies in the Midwest US City of Chicago have been held on the final day of the NATO summit, despite a heavy-handed crackdown by police forces in the area.

Demonstrators on Monday also targeted headquarters of major firms that represent corporate America, according to local media reports.

Groups of protesters rallied outside the headquarters of one of the biggest US defense contractors, Boeing, as well as a number of corporate banks such as JPMorgan and Bank of America while being surrounded by hundreds of police officers.

Scores of American anti-war activists were arrested on Sunday as well while several demonstrators were reportedly beaten and injured by US police.

Moreover, recent televised coverage of Monday’s protest rallies show the protesters being confronted by anti-riot police forces with several clashes between demonstrators and officers seeming to turn violent.

According to local news reports, police have announced the arrest of 45 protesters in Chicago over the past days, not including the four people arrested for their alleged involvement in terrorist plots to attack the NATO venue with Molotov cocktails.

Meanwhile on Sunday, clashes between police and protesters followed a rally of US veterans who threw away their military decorations in a protest march against NATO.
