Edward Snowden, the former contract employee for the National Security
Agency (NSA), has been indicted for espionage by the United States Justice Department. Snowden has disclosed that the U.S. government in engaging in massive surveillance against people throughout the country and the world.

Over one million people have demonstrated in Brazil during the last week. The protests were sparked by an increase in bus fares but has grown to encompass other issues.

The largest trade union federation in South Africa, the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), along with the Young Communist League, are gearing up for demonstrations against U.S. foreign policy during the upcoming visit of President Barack Obama of the U.S. Obama will visit several African states during late June in efforts to build support for his imperialist agenda for the continent.

Finally, the military forces in the Southern African state of Zimbabwe has called for peaceful elections inside the country. Elections may be held by July 31 but the issue of a date may be decided by the courts in Zimbabwe.

Plus there is a feature on the 50th anniversary of the "Detroit Walk to Freedom" where hundreds of thousands marched down Woodward ave. on June 23, 1963 led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rev. C.L. Franklin and others. On June 22, 2013 tens of thousands marched in commemoration down Woodward ave. again.
