Editor's Note: Abayomi Azikiwe will speak at the Allied Media Conference on Saturday examining the 'Future of Radio'. The PANW founder will discuss some of the tactical challenges facing those seeking to transform the dominance of corporate media within American political culture.
Illustrations of the corporate control and dominance of the American media are represented in the close alliance between the multi-national networks and the military-industrial-complex. This was clearly reflected in the false ideological and political premises advanced to justify the invasion and ocuupations of Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti and Somalia.
In addition, this corporate media dominance plays a major role in re-enforcing the national oppressive character of racial capitalism.
Such conditions call for the necessity to build a popular movement to revolutionize the content and direction of mass media in the United States through the creation of alternative or parallel institutions designed to uphold the material and immaterial interests of the people.
