Last year Amakisi Unlimited LLC produced the Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival. Our audience was over 500 people covering a two day weekend. We hope to exceed that success at the 3Rs progressive film festival. We have expanded media sponsorship with WDET, the Michigan Citizen and the Pan African News Wire. We will also receive media coverage through Clear Channel One radio staions 98.7 FM/WJLB and 92.3 FM/WMXD.

3Rs Progressive Film Festival features films and videos that celebrate the power of activism. The diverse range of international films goes beyond the boundaries of mainstream media and challenges viewers to become agents of change within their community and the world.

There will be discussions with local filmmakers and activists. Sam Greenlee, author of the Spook Who Sat by the Door; Professor Griff of Public Enemy, Grace Lee Boggs, Abayomi Azikiwe, and many others will participate in panels that will facilitate dialogue and solutions.

Organizations that are actively involved in the peace movement, environmental rights, challenging the inequities within the educational, justice, and prison industrial systems, water rights, and electoral politics will also be present.

Oyatunde Amakisi is an activist, artist, and the CEO of Amakisi Unlimited LLC, a Detroit based company that utilizes art as a tool of empowerment and healing through enriching cultural programs.
