Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality Hosts Annual October 22 Commemoration

The Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality will organize the annual October 22 National Day of Action Against Police Brutality on both October 22 and 24. The events are entitled: "Journey to Reconciliation and Justice: From Transformation to Victory."

On Wednesday, Oct. 22 a "Family and Community Speak-out" will be held at Club Technology, located at 8230 E. Forest. The agenda for this program includes the following topics:

I. How to protect your rights

II. Challenging police brutality--what can people do?

III. Legal recourse and resources

IV. Ongoing efforts and activities of the DCAPB

Then on Friday, Oct. 24, the second part of the commemoration will be entitled: "Voices of Victory: A Journey Through Reconciliation." This event will be held at the Cass Corridor Development Center at 3535 Cass Avenue. The agenda for this program is to:

I. Create peace in our neighborhoods

II. End law enforcement violence against citizens
