Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik Shabazz, 1925-1965), an African revolutionary who traveled the world teaching the necessity of unity and principled struggle against racism and imperialism. The only confessed killer was paroled in New York City.

New York, NY (BlackNews.com) -- The Trustees of the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, will commemorate the 85th birthday of Malcolm X with a special program featuring Gregory Reed, Esq.
For the first time ever, Mr. Reed, who purchased the original manuscript of Alex Haley's Autobiography of Malcolm X, including three unpublished chapters, and Mr. William A. Haley, son of famed author Alex Haley, will speak about the history, content and significance of the three unpublished chapters excluded from the book. In addition, there will be live music, poetry and an unveiling of the Shabazz Center's future programming plans.
The emcee for the evening will be AJ Calloway, New York City-based correspondent of the entertainment magazine program "Extra".
The event will take place on Wednesday, May 19th at the Shabazz Center, 3940 Broadway (at the corner of 165th street).
A private pre-event reception with Reed, Haley, public officials and other dignitaries will be held from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Doors open to the public at 6:30pm. A public reception will be held from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. The formal program will begin at 7:15pm. This event is free to the public. Contributions are appreciated.
