Foreign Minister Presents Sudan Address before UN General Assembly

New York - The Foreign Minister and head of Sudan delegation for the meetings of the UN General Assembly, Ali Karti, has presented Sudan statement before the General Assembly.

In his address, Karti has condemned the insults against religions and Islam, calling for expansion of peace and tolerance culture and adoption of steps to incriminate the insults of religions by issuance of international legislations in this regard.

Karti has given a briefing on Sudan experiment for realizing peace, highlighting on the role done by Sudan for establishment of South Sudan State.

The Foreign Minister has reiterated Sudan commitment to the Tripartite Initiative for delivering humanitarian aid to the civilians at the rebellion areas, calling on the international community to put pressure on the rebel movement to prevent their hostilities and aggressions on the Blue Nile and South Kordofan areas.

Karti has lauded the efforts exerted by the Qatari leadership which succeeded in Darfur, a matter that necessitated reduction of the UNAMID presence in Darfur region.

He called on the donors to participate in Darfur Rehabilitation Conference, scheduled in Doha in next December.

The Foreign Minister affirmed the importance of reform of the United Nations and its organs, stating that the UN shall live up to its role for guaranteeing equality and justice.

He called on the international community to write off its debts to Sudan and to fulfill its commitments in helping Sudan, stressing the importance of existence of effective companies to prop up the development process in the poor countries.

He also called for a balanced international system that respects the states' sovereignty.

Karti has called for full membership of Palestine at the UN, asserting Sudan rejection to all forms of oppression and ethical cleansing against the Palestinian people.

He called for making the Middle East on an area that is free from mass destruction weapons, stressing that the right of states to obtain nuclear technology for peaceful purposes shall be guaranteed.

Meanwhile, the Minister, Ali Karti, met Friday, on the sidelines of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, with the Chinese Foreign Minister and discussed progress of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Karti has appreciated China support to the economic and social development in Sudan, stressing that Sudan is keen to bolster its relations, exchange and cooperation with China in all fields.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that Sudan is proud over its friendship with Sudan, pointing out that the political confidence between Sudan and China has increased in the current time.

He said that China will continue to boost Sudan efforts for protecting its national stability, realizing national reconciliation and economic development toward further consolidating the bilateral ties between the two countries.
