SOMALIA: Government will not recognize the outcome of Kismayo conference, says minister

Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia interior minister Abdikarin Hussein Guled has repeated government’s position against the ongoing Jubbaland “Kismayo” conference which the Federal Government of Somalia and local administration disagreed before.

“The Federal Government of Somalia has earlier made clear its position towards Kismayo conference and I am now replicating it, The government will not recognize the outcome of Kismayo conference.” interior minister Abdikarin Hussein Guled said on Friday during interview with state-run radio.

“Despite the meeting was organized by Somali citizens, the conference still lacks legitimacy and is against the country’s constitution.” the minister added.

On March a high profile delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia led by the prime minister Abdi Farah Shirdon failed to reach consensus with the leaders of Kismayo interim administration following disputes on ways ti form a new semi-autonomous administration fir the region.

On Thursday the chairman of Jubbaland technical committee Abdulkani Abdi Jama accused the Federal Government on failing to continue the dialogue that it had with them.
