Malawian President Joyce Banda has dissolved the cabinet of her government amid reports of corruption. President Banda, who faces an election next year, has appointed a team to investigate the operations of government in this Southern African state.
The African Union (AU) held an extraordinary summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to discuss a possible withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC based in Holland, has been exclusively pre-occupied with African leaders. At present Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto is standing before the court despite the objections of Nairobi and the AU.
There are serious consequences domestically and internationally for the lockout of 800,000 federal government workers in the United States. International agencies and governments have warned Washington of the reckless implications of the current impasse within the Congress.
Finally, at least one European state is talking with the government of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the aftermath of the harmonized elections on July 31. Sweden has held discussions with Zimbabwe Vice-President Joice Mujuru on enhancing relations between the two countries.
