Africa can learn from developments in the People's Republic of China which has grown exponentially in economic and political status over the last three decades. The continent must integrate its fragmented regional infrastructure and move toward political unification.
There is a United States firm seeking to acquire a license to import ethanol from the Republic of Sudan. Relations between Khartoum and Washington have been strained for many years since the bombing by the Pentagon of a pharmaceutical plant at al-Shifa in Sudan in August 1998.
Violence is continuing in the Horn of Africa nation of Somalia where just this last past week a hotel was bombed in the capital of Mogadishu killing at least 11 people. In addition, a prison facility was also attacked resulting in the deaths of three guards.
