An intense situation internationally has developed with revelations of spying by the National Security Agency (NSA) against the governments which are allies of the United States. The Guardian newspaper has published an article reporting that European states engage in the same practices in Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Britain and the Netherlands.
The foreign minister of the military-backed government in Egypt has given an extensive interview on the state of relations between Cairo and other continental nation-states. Egypt is currently suspended from the African Union due to the military coup on July 3.
There have been significant cuts within the food supplemental assistance program in the U.S. Over four million people have been severed from the program while tens of millions are being subjected to a reduction in benefits.
Finally, the U.S. government reported this week that the Israeli Air Force bombed the Syrian coastal city of Latakia. Also the Israeli and Egyptian military forces bombed tunnels between the Sinai and the Gaza region of occupied Palestine.
