Since the passing of Tata Madiba Nelson Rohlihahla Mandela (1918-2013) on December 5, the world media outlets, governments and mass organizations have paid tribute to the legacy and contribution of the South African former president and leader of the African National Congress (ANC).

This program continues coverage of the events surrounding his death at home in Houghton. A memorial service was held at FNB stadium in Johannesburg on December 10 where world leaders and clergy spoke to tens of thousands of people in attendance.

This event and others were covered by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and other international media agencies. The passing of Mandela was one of the most widely covered media events in history.

The broadcast includes the speech of Cuban President Raul Castro on December 10. He paid tribute to the South African struggle and noted the bond of friendship between Fidel and Mandela.
