United States President Barack Obama visited two East African states last month in an effort to shore up the imperialist policies of Washington and Wall Street.

Hosting a US-backed business conference in Kenya, Obama provided no substantive analysis of the situation in Africa. Kenya has been staunch ally of the U.S. for decades although the Obama administration did not support the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as president in 2013.

Despite the rhetoric of the administration, overall the volume of trade between the US and Africa has decline by at least 40 percent since Obama has been in office. Further increased domestic production of oil, natural gas and other commodities will continue to have a negative impact on African as well as numerous states internationally.

In Ethiopia, another close partner of Pentagon militarism in the region, Obama in his arrogant fashion sought to place exclusive culpability for the problems of joblessness and lack of genuine economic development on the African people themselves.

Nonetheless, the masses in Africa and around the world clearly see Obama for what he is: just another capitalist politician seeking to win rewards for the multi-national corporations and the banks.
