MALEMA & ZUMA TO SQUARE OFF IN PARLIAMENT

CAPE TOWN – President Jacob Zuma and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema are set to square off in Parliament on Thursday.
Malema’s trial, set down for six weeks, made it doubtful he’d be in the House when Zuma is set to answer Member of Parliament (MPs) questions.
Now that the case has been struck off the roll, Malema is free to be in the National Assembly in person.
Malema is responsible for one of the six questions on the order paper, and wants to know when Zuma will comply with the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s remedial action that he repay some of the public funds squandered on Nkandla.
The stage is already set for drama on Thursday.
The EFF is widely expected to put to the test the new rule, adopted last week, that allows for defiant MPs to be physically removed from the chamber and which the EFF strenuously objected to.
Democratic Alliance Chief Whip John Steenhuisen said, “Not wanting to pre-empt what other parties do, but I certainly think their first order’s going to be to test the new rule that was adopted by Parliament last week. I think we can expect some drama in the House.”
Not for the first time, Malema and his red berets will be confronting the president over the question that has come to dominate and sometimes derail Parliament’s proceedings for more than a year.
