German Delegations to Visit Khartoum in January :FM
January 5, 2016 (KHARTOUM) - Several official and legislative German delegations would arrive in Khartoum during this month, announced the Sudanese foreign ministry.

Following a meeting Tuesday with the German ambassador to Khartoum Rolf Welberts, foreign ministry deputy under-secretary Daffa Allah al-Hag Ali Osman, said his country welcomes the expected visit of the German officials.

According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, the meeting discussed the German efforts to support Sudan’s national dialogue besides economic cooperation between the two countries.

Germany had signed a strategic partnership agreement with the AU High Implementation Panel (AUHIP) by the end of 2014, allowing it to work with the Sudanese parties to facilitate a process aiming to bring peace and achieve democratic transformation in the east African country.

The statement added that Osman and Welberts also discussed regional developments of common interests, pointing the Sudanese diplomat praised the distinct ties between the two countries.

Also, the two sides agreed that the next meeting of the Sudanese German joint political consultation committee would be held during the first quarter of this year.

The statement further noted that the first German delegation would include the state minister of foreign affairs besides the state minister of environment and urban planning and several senior officials while the second delegation would include several legislators.
