Joint Seminar Held to Mark Anniversary of October 4 Declaration
Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- A joint seminar of the north, the south and overseas was held in Shenyang, China from Oct. 6 to 7 to mark the ninth anniversary of the October 4 declaration.
Congratulatory speeches were made by heads of the delegations of the north, south and overseas sides.
Speeches were made by representatives of the north, south and overseas sides on the theme of "On opening the way of peace and reunification of Korean peninsula and north-south relations".
Speakers referred to the issue of improving the inter-Korean relations and settling the issue of the country's reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation responsible for it, the issue of preventing a war and establishing durable peace on the Korean peninsula and the issue of having multifaceted contact, visit and dialogue and successfully holding the joint national meeting.
A joint resolution was adopted at the seminar.
It expressed the will to preserve the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, conduct brisk activities for implementing them and firmly adhere to the spirit of national independence and great national unity.
It underlined the need to make all efforts for putting an end to the war crisis and building durable peace mechanism in the country, proactively conduct contact, visit, exchange and solidarity activities among all people from all walks of life at home and abroad and further raise the atmosphere of national reconciliation and unity.
It underscored the need to enhance the role of the preparatory committees for the joint meeting which had already been organized or are to be organized and focus all efforts on convening the joint meeting next year.
