Decision of Political Bureau of WPK Central Committee
February 8, Juche 37 (1948) is a historic day when President Kim Il Sung proclaimed the birth of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) by strengthening and developing the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA) into a regular revolutionary army.
The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea adopted on January 22 the following decision in order to add eternal lustre to the immortal revolutionary exploits of Kim Il Sung, the founder and builder of the heroic KPA:
February 8, Juche 37 (1948) will be marked as the Founding Day of the KPA, and April 25, Juche 21 (1932) as the Founding Day of the KPRA.
February 8 will be commemorated as the Army Day.
