Ethiopian president, Mulatu Teshome, on Monday told the parliament that African nationals would now be able to get visas on arrival in the country.

According to the website of the Ethiopian embassy in Belgium, the country is doing this to contribute its part to the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.

Mulatu said all African countries are expected to allow African travellers to enter their respective countries by issuing visa on arrival by 2023.

Currently, all travellers, except those from Kenya and Djibouti, have to get a visa before departure or receive it on arrival.

The capital Addis Ababa is one of the world’s largest diplomatic hubs, hosting the seat of the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and dozens of foreign embassies.
