Abiy Ahmed Met with Japan’s PM, Shinzo Abe

PM Abiy Ahmed and his delegation met with Japan’s PM, Shinzo Abe in a bilateral during Tokyo International Conference on African Development (#TICAD7)

PM Abiy briefed PM Abe on Ethiopia’s ongoing political and economic reforms. He shared the vision of making Ethiopia one of the top 5 leading economies in Africa through the homegrown economic reforms currently in the pipeline, and called upon the Government of Japan’s support for this initiative as well as for Japanese business investments in agriculture, tourism, ICT and mining.

Lastly, Prime Minister Abiy requested PM Abe to facilitate work opportunities for skilled youth in various sectors in Japan.

PM Shinzo Abe expressed his support for PM Abiy and the domestic reforms being undertaken by the government.

He also acknowledged the role of Ethiopia in promoting peace with Eritrea; in South Sudan talks and PM Abiy’s role the Sudan agreements.

He affirmed continued support for PM Abiy and Ethiopia and shared particular assistance for the construction of the Jimmy-Chida road.
