Global Outrage Over Israeli Strikes on Doha Targeting Hamas Leaders

UN, Arab, and Islamic states condemn Israeli strikes on Doha as violations of international law, voicing solidarity with Qatar and warning of escalation.

Several Arab and Islamic countries, international organizations, and Palestinian factions strongly condemned the recent Israeli occupation strikes on the Qatari capital, Doha, describing them as a blatant violation of international law and a direct threat to the state’s sovereignty and security.

UN, Arab League denounce attack

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Israeli strikes on Doha, calling them a “flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit also denounced the attack “in the strongest terms,” stressing that targeting residential buildings in Qatar represents a dangerous escalation.

Regional responses escalate

Iran

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the Israeli aggression on Doha constituted a “clear violation of international principles, laws, and the UN Charter,” adding that it threatens Qatar’s sovereignty.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes and warned of “serious consequences” if the Israeli occupation continues its violations.

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed described the assault as a “flagrant attack” on Doha.

Oman

Oman’s Foreign Ministry voiced its solidarity with Qatar and expressed “deep condemnation” of the aggression.

Algeria

Algeria’s Foreign Ministry denounced the attack as a “brutal act of aggression” and reaffirmed its “full and unwavering solidarity” with Doha.

Jordan

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli bombardment “in the strongest terms,” calling it a flagrant breach of international law.

Turkey

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry also denounced the attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, affirming Ankara’s support for Qatar “in confronting this cowardly Israeli assault that targets its sovereignty and security.”

Iraq

Iraq’s ambassador to Qatar, Jaafar al-Sadr, also voiced condemnation, wishing the country continued security and peace.

Kuwait

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing the aggression.

Lebanon

Lebanese President stated that the attack on Doha “falls within the pattern of repeated Israeli assaults that demonstrate its determination to destabilize the region,” adding that Lebanon stands in full solidarity with Qatar’s leadership, government, and people in rejecting this “criminal aggression.”

The Lebanese government separately issued a statement condemning the attack “in the strongest terms.”

Egypt

The Egyptian Presidency also denounced the attack, saying it jeopardized international peace efforts as well as security and stability in the region as a whole. 

Palestinian Authority

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Israeli assault on “sisterly Qatar,” stressing the importance of halting the escalation immediately and warning that “its continuation will have repercussions for the entire world.”

Palestinian Islamic Jihad

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement also denounced the targeting of Hamas leaders in Doha, describing it as a “criminal act” that violates all humanitarian norms and international law.

'Israel' attacks Qatar

In a statement, the Israeli occupation military, in coordination with its internal security agency, Shin Bet, claimed to have carried out an airstrike on the Qatari capital, Doha, claiming to target the senior leadership of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

Israeli Channel 12, citing military sources, reported that the strikes targeted members of the Hamas negotiating delegation while they were discussing the latest US-mediated proposal in Doha.

However, a senior Hamas source told Al Mayadeen that the movement’s negotiating delegation survived the Israeli attempt to assassinate them in Doha. 

Palestinian Resistance Affairs expert Hani al-Dali told Al Mayadeen that the senior leadership survived the attempt. He stressed that the assassination attempt failed despite Israeli-US coordination.

"The strike on Doha proves that the aim is for the talks to be part of the war effort in Gaza," al-Dali added. 

Reuters correspondents confirmed hearing loud explosions in the Qatari capital, noting plumes of smoke rising over the Katara district.

This brazen Israeli strike on Hamas’ negotiating delegation in Doha exposes once again the pattern of aggression that has defined Israeli and American conduct, using violence at the very moment when talks for peace are on the table. Just as Washington and Tel Aviv undermined dialogue before they attacked Iran in June, they now repeat the same tactic against the Palestinian resistance, targeting representatives engaged in negotiations.
