Thousands call for Morsi's return to power in Beni Suef, Beheira

Protesters in Damanhour and Beni Suef stage pro-Morsi rallies, chanting 'democratic legitimacy is a red line' and 'Down with military rule'
Thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters staged rallies in the Beheira governorate's capital city of Damanhour and in the Upper Egypt governorate of Beni Suef against what they are calling "a coup against legitimacy."
The Egyptian army removed Morsi from his post on Wednesday after days of massive protests against him nationwide. Adly Mansour, the recently-appointed head of the High Constitutional Court, has since taken the presidential oath of office.
The protesters raised photos of Morsi as well as banners reading "legitimacy is a red line." They also chanted, "Down with military rule."
Supporters of Morsi, who came to power after Egypt's first post-revolution presidential elections last year, believe that he can only be replaced through polls, highlighting his "legitimacy" as president.
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood issued a statement Wednesday announcing their refusal of the former president's removal, calling the military's move a "coup d'etat."
In Beni Suef, protesters from other Islamist political factions gathered at governorate squares, demanding the return of "legitimacy" to Morsi and the re-institution of the constitution, which has been suspended in accordance with the road-map announced by the military Wednesday.
Ahram Online reporter Ahmed El-Sayed Gamal Eddin said that some protesters have stormed the governorate building and have occupied it during their protests.
