PAWO was formed in 1962 believe it or not before the organization of African Unity. PAWO's aim was and is still to ensure full and effective participation of women in political, economic and social development particularly in member countries and internationally. To struggle for improvement of the status of women and strengthen, cooperation and solidarity between African women and women of the world.
