Note: This coming Saturday, January 26, 2008, Abayomi Azikiwe, the editor of the Pan-African News Wire, will speak at the 'Conscious Change' Conference to be held at the University of Windsor in Canada. Azikiwe will be speaking at 1:45 p.m. in Vanier Hall on the role of the anti-war movement in the United States in the international struggle for peace and social justice.
Abayomi Azikiwe is the co-founder of the Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice which has been in existence since September of 2002. Azikiwe has published articles, essays, research reports and interviews in a host of newspapers, journals, newsletters and web sites throughout the United States, Canada and the international community.
Azikiwe is a broadcast journalist and has worked on five different radio stations over the last nine years in the United States and Canada. He can be heard every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on CKLN FM 88.1 (http://ckln.fm) originating from Toronto but streaming audio throughout the world.

Event Description
This January 26 & 27 OPIRG-Windsor is hosting the Western Ontario Public Interest School at Vanier Hall, University of Windsor.
This is a two day conference entitled "Conscious Change" which will feature workshops on various social justice and environmental issues.
On Saturday, January 26 the keynote speaker is Libby Davies, Member of Parliament for Vancouver East, who will be speaking on "Harm Reduction" as a sensible policy as opposed to the "War on Drugs."
On Sunday, January 27 the keynote speaker is Howard Pawley, Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Social Justice Person of the Year 2002-2003 at the University of Windsor. Pawley is the former Premier of Manitoba and will be speaking on "Strategies and Techniques for Activism."

During the dates of Friday January 25, 2008 to Sunday January 27, 2008 the University of Windsor’s OPIRG will be welcoming students, community members, OPIRG members and guest speakers from across the province to join together for a weekend which promises to fully meet the Ontario Public Interest Research Groups mandate:

As a not-for-profit organization OPIRG strives to promote education, research and action, discussing and promoting the issues that shape and change our communities and world.
