SOMALIA: TFG prime minister- roadmap nearly to fail

By; Abdalle Ahmed

Mogadishu (RBC) The prime minister of Somalia’s transitional federal government [TFG], Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, voiced his concern of that the newly signed “roadmap” is nearly to fail, RBC Radio reports.

Speaking to the state-run radio on Monday, the prime minister said that his government on its side made great efforts to implement the roadmap which was reached under UN-sponsored meeting held in Mogadishu on Sept 2011, but that lots of challenges were facing the process.

“As a government, we made all we could do to implement the roadmap, but we want to make clear that there are many obstacles we encounter.” The prime minister said.

“Lacking of finance and of course that Somali people were not willing to adopt it.” He added.

The prime minister spearheaded members of his cabinet flew to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi on Sunday for what meant “as consultation meeting” with UN envoy for Somalia.

“We intend to convey our concern about this to UN Political Office for Somalia.” Prime minister also told.

The roadmap which states four main points including the reform of the parliament and draft a new constitution has met strict opposition from both the ordinary Somalis and the politicians, because of empowering few individuals rather than the whole Somalis.

It is not also approved by the federal parliament.

The UN Special Envoy to Somalia Amb. Augustine Mahiga, urged Somali politicians to continue implementing the roadmap in order to emphasize the transition tasks.
