Jul 23, 2013

Beirut/Tehran, (SANA)- Lebanese Hezbollah Party rejected the EU decision to blacklist the party's military wing as "aggressive and unjust" and it was "not based on any justifications or evidence."

In a statement issued on Monday, the party denounced the designation as a capitulation to United States and Zionism pressures, asserting that “It appears that the decision was written with an American hand in Zionist ink."

"Hezbollah Party considers that the EU’s unjust decision does not in any way echo the interests of the EU people and goes against the principles and values of the Europeans who are supportive of freedom and independence." the statement added.

Earlier on Monday, the EU Foreign Ministers added the military wing of Hezbollah Party to the so-called the 'Terrorist Organizations List' in a compliance to the Israeli-American pressures for punishing the Lebanese resistance for its stances in combating the Western project in the region.

Iran: EU decision doesn't change anything about Hezbollah

Iranian Foreign Ministry described the EU decision as "an uncalculated and tendentious step that will change nothing of the reality of Hezbollah and its resisting role in Lebanon in the face of the Zionist entity."

The Ministry spokesman Abbas Araghchi stressed that the Lebanese popular resistance, first and foremost Hezbollah "was and is still respected by the peoples of the Islamic world."

Araghchi said the EU decision serves the interests of the Zionist entity, warning that this decision would not help in establishing security and peace in the Middle East region but would rather increase crises there.

He expressed hope that the EU will reconsider its step regarding Hezbollah.
