GENERAL-MUAZUIN spite of the security challenge facing the nation, Nigerian military authorities have said that the international community still looks up to Nigeria as a peacekeeping giant within the global system.
The Nigerian armed forces therefore insisted that Nigeria would not relent in the pursuit of peace in the country or anywhere in the world.
The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre (NAPKC), Major General Sanusi Nasir Muazu, disclosed this at the graduation of 26 military officers from a two-week Civil Military Coordination (CIMIC) Course I of 2014.
The course is a special military package designed to equip officers for any peacekeeping or peace support operation.
In his graduation address, General Muazu said: “There is no doubt that Nigeria has continued to play a pivotal role in pursuing peace in Africa and the rest of the world.”
The Commandant pointed out that the training project was timely and relevant.
He commended the government of Japan for funding the project which is aimed at strengthening the capacity of West Africa’s peace support operation in Nigeria.
He therefore implored the 26 participants drawn from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Custom, Civil Defence and one civilian from the Ministry of Defence, to build on the acquired knowledge through self-development, while they also reposition themselves for the tasks ahead.
