Zuma to Face EFF in National Assembly Today
Denise Williams

President Jacob Zuma will once again be jibed by the inevitably red-clad EFF to “pay back the money” for questionable security upgrades to Nkandla.

Zuma will appear in the National Assembly chamber this afternoon to respond to five questions submitted by the ANC, the DA and EFF.

EFF leader Julius Malema’s question is bound to stir the pot. He will be asked why the findings by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, that Zuma return to taxpayers the money used for non-security features, including a swimming pool, kraal, amphitheater and chicken run, had not been adhered to.

Malema has said that, according to the Public Protector, Zuma should with the assistance of the National Treasury and the SA Police determine the reasonable cost to be re-paid.

Malema said he was anticipating his return to parliament this week, where his party has earned a reputation as rabble-rousers, frequently disrupting proceedings with chants demanding Zuma pay back money used to upgrade his private residence in KwaZulu-Natal.

Madonsela earlier this week, was forced to use the media to read an address she would have made to Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete, had she been asked to appear.

While this left her “deeply saddened”, she further responded to “utterances” her office viewed as “misinformation” about her Nkandla report.

This included: whether or not she ever asked the Minister of Police to make any determination regarding Zuma’s portion of payment which through recommendations made in the report.
