Diezani Allison-Madueke was appointed as the Oil Minister of the recently reconstituted cabinet of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was assigned to the post by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

A major shakeup of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and the Department of Petroleum Resources was announced by new Petroleum Minister yesterday, with the Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refinery Alhaji Sulaiman Bashir Abdullahi being the only top officer who was sacked outright.
Alhaji Sulaiman is a full brother of First Lady Hajia Turai Yar’adua. While all the other officers affected by the changes were moved to other places, Abdullahi was replaced at his old post but was not assigned to a new one.
The other changes announced by the Ministry of the Petroleum Resources involved the Director of the Department of Petroleum Studies [DPR], Mr Billy Agha, who moves to NNPC headquarters as Group Executive Director [GED], Engineering and Technical Services. The former GED, Engineering and Technical Services Mr. F. Abbiye Suku is now GED Corporate Services, while Alhaji Attahiru Yusuf, the current GED, Corporate Services is now GED, Commercial and Investment (C&I).
Alhaji Aminu Babakusa, the current GED, Commercial and Investment is now NNPC’s GED, Special Services. Also, all the GED’s who have been in acting capacity over the past 2 years have been confirmed.
Other changes made yesterday include Mr Andrew Obaje, Deputy Director of DPR who becomes its substantive Director. Mr Samuel Okeke, Acting Group General Manager (Ag GGM), New Business Development Division (NBDD) moves to Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) as substantive Managing Director to replace Mr Reginald Stanley, who moves to head NBDD.
Mr K. Olaosebikan, Managing Director of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), moves to NNPC Corporate HQ as Group General Manager (GGM), National Frontier on Exploration Services (NFES) under the GED Exploration and Production.
Mr Olaosebikan will be replaced by Mr A. Membre, the current Executive Director Operations of NPDC. Mr Membre becomes the substantive MD of NPDC. Mr M. A. Fiddi has been named GGM NAPIMS to replace Dr Ayo Balogun. Mr Anthony Ogbuigwe has been confirmed as the substantive Managing Director of PHRC.
Meanwhile, an International Trading Company (ITCO) is now being created to replace the activities of the HYSON, NAPOIL, and Duke Oil with Dr Ayo Balogun of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) now moving to head the ITCO as its first Managing Director.
Hyson (Nigeria) Limited in Affiliation with Calson (BERMUDA) Limited was a joint venture between NNPC and Vitol S.A. Swiss International Crude Oil and Products Trading Company.
Hyson/Calson was in business to market Nigeria’s excess petroleum products in the West and Central African sub regions and elsewhere. NAPOIL is 51 percent owned by NNPC and 49% owned by Trafigura Beheer BV.
NAPOIL was incorporated in Bermuda as a private limited liability company under a Joint Venture agreement entered into by NNPC on the 5th of December 1991. Duke Oil Services (UK) Limited was also the subsidiary of the NNPC aimed at launching the corporation into the international trading arena whereby additional profit could be made from crude oil and petroleum products sales in the spot market.
No reasons were given for the changes, but the statement said the appointments and changes take immediate effect.

sacking alone is not the answer, let him give account of his stewardship, if found guilty, let him go in for it and all his properties be seized so that other people will learn a lesson. if nothing is being done to him, and let go free, other people will do more than that bearing in mind that the worst is to sack them and all the stolen funds will be theirs
