China urges UN team in Syria to fully consult with Syrian government

Beijing, (SANA) China urged the UN chemical weapons inspection team currently visting Syria to fully consult with the Syrian government and maintain an objective stance when probing an alleged use of chemical weapons in Damascus countryside Wednesday.

Reuters quoted the Chinese Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement Thursday that ''the UN chemical weapons team in Syria are on the ground and have started enquiries…China hopes the UN team would fully consult with the Syrian government and maintain an objective, impartial and professional stance, to ascertain what really happened.''

''China's stance is clear enough regardless of which side is using chemical weapons in Syria…China objects it decisively,'' the statement added.

China's stance comes after the UN Security Council called following a closed-door session on Wednesday for revealing the truth about the allegations on the use of chemical weapons in Damascus countryside, welcoming the UN investigation in this regard.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that biased channels of disinformation and bloodshed have, as they always do, made false allegations that the Syrian Army used chemical weapons in Damascus countryside.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirmed that those allegations are completely baseless and untrue, and they are part of the dirty media warfare on Syria.

A media source dismissed as untrue the news broadcast by some media outlets that chemical weapons have been used in the Ghouta in Damascus Countryside.

The source stressed that the reports circulated by the TV channels of al-Jazeera, al-Arabiya, Sky News and other channels which are involved in the shedding of Syrian blood and supporting terrorism, are completely baseless, and that the aim behind broadcasting such reports is to distract the UN chemical weapons investigation committee from its mission.
