Laktar Brahimi, the Arab League and United Nations mediator for the Syrian conflict, has resigned. He is the third person to exit the position since 2011 when the western-backed opposition forces initiated a war against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
The war against Syria has not gone the way that imperialism would have desired. Many of the armed rebels have been driven out of their bases and the historic city of Homs was evacuated by the counter-revolutionaries.
Just last year, the Obama administration and its allies in Europe were preparing for a massive aerial bombardment of Syria. They were unable to get the support of the UN Security Council due to the intervention of Russia and China as well as other states.
Moreover, inside the U.S. and other western states, the majority of people were opposed to yet another war waged by Washington and NATO against peoples within the developing world. The Obama administration is continuing the warmongering policies of successive U.S. administrations.
Watch this exclusive interview with Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire, who is a frequent contributor to RT satellite news. Azikiwe has consistently raised questions about the role of the U.S. in Syria and the need for the anti-war movement to protest the war drives of the Obama administration and its allies.
