The statement released by the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy also says the homes of youth leaders have been raided

A statement by a Muslim Brotherhood-led coalition said on Tuesday that security forces arrested three leaders of Islamist political parties.

The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) said security forces have arrested Nasr Abdel-Salam, acting head of the Building and Development Party, Magdy Hussein, head of the Istiqlal Party and Hossam Khalaf of the Wasat Party.

The statement added that security forces also raided the homes of youth leaders, such as Diaa El-Sawi, spokesman of the Youth against the Coup movement.

Security sources are yet to confirm the claims made by the Brotherhood's statement.

Authorities have cracked down hard on supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi and his Brotherhood since his deposal last summer. Hundreds were killed and thousands jailed or facing trials, including Morsi himself and his group's top leadership.

A wave of violent attacks, mainly targeting security personnel and installations, has also spread since Morsi's ouster. The government has blamed the attacks on Morsi's group and its allies, designating the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organisation.
